Prestolite Starters
with Bottom Brackets
(1) When replacing a non-Prestolite starter no modification is necessary
(2) When replacing a Prestolite starter the following modification must be performed
- Remove old starter
- Using a 9/32" drill bit, drill out the holes for the starter mount
- Install new starter in the bracket using the 2 nuts supplied
- Tighten starter in bracket
- Mount bracket to engine
IMPORTANT!!
Install the bottom support bracket to the bottom of starter & to engine. Failure to do so will cause possible engine damage or early starter failure. If you are missing this bracket you will have to fabricate something to fit.
This applies ony to Prestolite original starters using the bracket shown.
Original Bottom Bracket MUST Be Installed For Proper Grounding and Starter Support. Engine Damage Can Result If This Support Bracket Is Not Installed.
